This might seem odd...coming from a heterosexual woman... But there were many parts of Millennium which drew me in like a drug...and those parts were, oddly enough, the balance of beauty and horror that we saw throughout the series. I found it...stimulating....and not even sexualy.

In this culture, people have become very up-tight about many things. Sex. The human body. They are no longer seen as beautiful, but as something ugly and embarrasing. This was Millennium's strength, and at the same time, it's downfall.

Here, I thought we could discuss this aspect of the series, which has never realy been covered before. From the stripper/single mom in the first episode, to slaughtered horses, to murder after murder being commited to protect a child... Millennium is filled with the paradox of beauty/innocence mixed with horror/death. As is life!

So, who wants to go first?:devil:

Yeah there are alot of strange reasons why people murder. One aspect i find intriguing is.........the victims had to die, they where marked for murder. Thats one kind of serial killer, they pick a victim they see that fits their need. The reason i liked about MM S1 was the killers where plain evil, driven by madness from fear of the coming apocolypse.

I think one thing that was implied in virtually all the episodes involving seemingly deranged activities by the "baddies" was that Satan had loosed his demons, Legion and otherwise, upon the earth to help prepare for the arrival of the Antichrist. This also would imply a religious Apocalypse, not a secular one. Sometimes this point was more clearly made than at others. Just my 2 cents... :u_thinking02y:

I've had my share of contemplation around the strange appeal arising from opposites, like generated in MM. Beauty and its inverse, the gruesome aftermath of evil ... the most appealing paradox as you stated. I'm at times stuck in thinking how come I'm seeing and feeling this as ... well, vibrant as I do, since the events and images aren't in any way passable, but they give rise to a some sort of a primitive reaction. I'm thinking of it as a primitive reaction at first, because thinking about it usually leads to distancing myself from it , in a sense that "how can I feel anything other than nausea when projecting to what I'm seeing", I'm not "allowed" to feel any association with such gruesome images and actions.

Since the feeling in my mind is not pleasure (hopefully at least ) I'm inclined to turn to an interpretation of 'clarity'.  Once the cat is out all is well ? That sounds perhaps even a bit too simplistic, perhaps the lurking revelation is closure, fashination  manifesting from the witnessing of 'pure' good and evil, a singular moment of clarity ?

Thank you for that. That was beautifuly descriptive!

And thank you, Celt. Your 2 cents are welcome and appreciated!

Frank seemed to look right past those hot babes in the first show.

He didn't seem to have a very warm relationship at home... did they ever have a sexual momement?

And then season two has him separted from his wife, with a chick that really digs him hangin' aournd alot.. and Franks seems oblivious. At her death Frank realizes that she was the only woman that really understood him.

Frank seemed asexual to me thoughout the series. Did I miss something?

good question, i have often thought about what was the reason why they couldnt have a baby. Was it Frank or was it Catherine, he refers Jordan a miracle baby. I think Frank was very sexual, the way he would lookat Catherine in the first season. I think men his age do experience less sexual needs
