As you are all too aware I really do regret taking anyone's time in the spotlight away from them, and I hope that you will continue to support Josef's efforts and comment on his video, but there are times when a hot potato lands in our lap and this is one of them.

Lance Henriksen has contacted us to inform us that he has been approached by independent investors interested in making a Millennium Movie. I don't need to tell anyone how important this news is to us. And here's where you come in. We are so close we can almost touch this and we need to use this opportunity to generate as much publicity as we are able.

Do not stop pushing: take this news to the forums you frequent, add it to your social network profiles, share it with your friends on twitter and lets see if we can get this to go viral. I know you won't let us down.

FRANK IS ALMOST BACK!

My first thought was why these people had contacted Lance, as it's Fox that owns the rights.

Then I went over to the Haven where they're running a poll as to what would people be willing to sacrifice to keep XF continuining. One of the options was to sacrifice the major actors, which I could understand as I didn't have much problem in accepting Doggett and Reyes running the X-Files department.

Then I had an understanding: XF for me is about X-Files, whoever is running the department - but there can't be Millennium without Frank Black! Whoever these mysterious possible backers of a Millennium movie, they would be stupid to even think of this project unless Lance was on board. And if they know anything about the business, they would already have been in talks with Fox and possibly CC.

Lance must by now be extremely savvy about the business. I doubt he would have said anything at all if he didn't think this approach to him had potential.

This is just amazing news.

I've posted this news on the Haven and also alt.tv.millennium.

Edited to add:

How about Rob Shearman - the guy who's written an XF/MM/TLG episode guide. He's on LiveJournal, but only LiveJournal people can leave a comment there, and I don't have one. Perhaps someone with a LiveJournal account could add a comment.

I did speak to Rob Shearman a few months back. He agreed to an interview. The only issue was he was busy at the time - oh, and the book was delayed as I recall. In fact we mention him in the next podcast. Time to get back in contact with the guy.

As for why the details of these people have contacted Lance - all I can say - is that at the moment, its just a speculative issue that would result in FOX and 1013 being contacted.

What's important that there are people who are willing to put a lot of money into doing this. I think that's a vital piece of news that needs to be spread among the naysayers.

I have always thought it would come down from another Indapendent Movie Maker. I am very excited seeing this news. Maybe FOX and 1013 will help or release the rights to this other group. I am very happy to see some movement

Yes! This is great news! They're almost 10 years too late... But better late than never!
My question is will it be based in 2000 or what?

Ah, well... I'll leave that to the writers!

If we do go on it Graham, you're hired (or is that The Apprentice?)
We really appreciate you helping us to spread the word and that's the bit we really need people to do. If you good people can recall, a rumour that Lance was in XF2 made it to all the major news sites and it was sparked by little more than a comment or two online. The same good fortune was experienced by X-Files News who made the online headlines, and BBC Radio I might add, thanks to a less than perfect translation of something Gillian Anderson had said. I am hoping, and praying, we experience the same good fortune and that there is a snowball effect taking this news to the major players out there.

Every little bit helps (to steal Tesco's slogan.)

Tell everyone with ears to hear and you just never know.

Great news!
I too was thinking that this would not get off the ground unless a third party would join Fox and 1013.
I've posted on BigLight and XF Ultimate.

It's always possible that the movie could be done in the way that Lucasfilm produced the Star Wars movies with the film funded by who has approached Lance along with 1013 with Fox distributing the film.

Already put the news out at some of the other forums that I visit.
Kaboom? Sounds like that little guy from the Flintstones.

Hi Guys,

Thanks, again, to everyone who has helped us push this story. It is beginning to break, our good friend and Movie Director Brett Hart has been contacted by a journalist who is wanting to cover the story, I'm just trying to see what we can put together for him.

The word is getting out so don't let up in your efforts to spread the word.

Best wishes,

Eth

Hi Joe
It's his first feature length directing role but certainly not his first venture into the craft. He directed a number of short films, commercials and music videos before coming to the attention of Richard Franklin who was so impressed by his work that he took him under his wing. Bone Dry was his first feature film and it, believe it or not, landed him in a honorary mention in a list of the top five directors of all time alongside Scorsese and others. He is working on a number of projects at the moment Joe, one which is really exciting (and involves Lance) and I hope he lets me tell you all about it soon but at the moment he has slapped a gagging order on me lol

Hi Joe,
You have to see it, it's a great film and with the greatest of respect Lance is a fantastic actor starring in a lot of bad films of late. Brett really gave him the opportunity to shine. It has been applauded by everyone I know who has seen it, including James Moran who wrote for Torchwood amongst other things, and it's the best film he has been in for ages.
And it's got such a great twist in the end.
Think Saw meets Duel and you get the idea :)

I'm thinking it would be a good to base it on 2012, if the production can be completed before then, and released. What a prelude to 2012, a MLM movie with it as the subject. Perfect for the owls and roosters to disagree over. And oh yes, bring back Lara Means. Right Eth?

HighPlainsDrifter, I recognize your picture from one of the X-files episodes, but can't remember the name of it. Do you remember? I'd hate to wake up in the middle of the night and see that face. Yikes. :woot:
