Its been a very long time since we got excited about some Millennium DVD release news, since all three seasons of Chris Carter's darkest TV series to date have been available on DVD format for some time.

Yesterday however, the excellent TV Shows On DVD reported that Amazon.com had a new complete 3 season box set advertised for pre-order with a release date of October 28th 2008. The excellent price of $49.99 seems to have risen slightly since then, and is at the time of posting now at $51.99 but as Gord Lacey points out, this is a huge saving on the price of separate season box sets for anyone who yet to purchase them or wants to add this to their collection.

Details are non-existent at the moment but we at Millennium - This is who we are expect this to be the long awaited region 1 release of the Millennium: The Complete DVD Collection box set that was released on region 2 format in Europe long ago on Monday, October 31, 2005. US based fans of the series were originally disappointed that the full season box set was not available to them at the time.

Chello Zone acquires Millennium from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution

UK based television viewers had for some time been able to enjoy Chris Carter's Millennium television series on ITV4 albeit at 4am in the morning but the series seems to have been dropped from current schedules. However all is not lost, for Chello Zone which broadcasts the popular Zone Horror and Zone Thriller channels seemingly comes to the rescue. Earlier this year during March, Chello Zone issued the following press release:

Multi-channel operator Chello Zone has acquired the cable and DTH rights to a wide selection of feature films and television series from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution; it was announced today by Steve Cole, Senior Vice President, Channels at Chello Zone.

The deal will see films such as Kiss of Death and crime thriller The Punisher, as well as TV shows, including Millennium, created by Chris Carter and starring Terry OQuinn (Lost), the latest series of prime-time Emmy nominated reality hit Cops and Remington Steele starring Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day), heading to Chello Zones channels Zone Horror, Zone Reality and Zone Thriller.

Chello Zones highly successful channels Zone Thriller, the high-tension home of suspense films and series; Zone Reality dedicated to explosive, unpredictable and extraordinary real life programming and Zone Horror devoted to the dark side of cinema will air the films and series across all international feeds.

Steve Cole, SVP Channels comments on announcement, Were delighted to further extend our relationship with Fox. The exciting range of high quality titles the studio offers enables us to acquire shows that work in numerous countries on our many differently themed channels.

Chello Zone recently announced on the 20th June that their channels will be subject to an EPG re-shuffle with ZoneThriller undergoing a revamp whilst ZoneHorror receives a +1 channel.

Sarah-Jane Redmond to appear on X-Files: I Want To Believe

The official website of Vancouver-based actress Sarah-Jane Redmond (who of course brought us Millennium's demonic Lucy Butler), has today announced that Sarah-Jane will be seen on-screen during this summer's forthcoming blockbuster X-Files: I Want to Believe. The film's producers have stipulated that the cast and crew members not discuss any of the film details in order to preserve the characters and plotline.

Meanwhile the official website for the X-File: I Want to Believe is now available containing the film's official trailer, image gallery and release dates.

The Millennial Abyss

A number of Millennium fans have contacted us and/or posted in our forums about the sudden and shock departure of The Millennial Abyss website. We have been asked about the site owners welfare, why it has disappeared and how to access the virtual fourth season etc.

Unfortunately we have had no contact with site owner Brian Dixon for some time, and as the website is now unavailable and its domain name up for auction, e-mails sent to him via the domain will likely not be received by Brian.

Should we hear from Brian with any news, we will advise accordingly by way of a news update and in our forums.

For now, as is the nature of virtual on-line relationships and the difficulties in contacting people on-line, all we can do is hope that the much loved and highly respected Millennial Abyss returns safely and that Brian is well.

UPDATE: The Millennial Abyss has returned allbeit at a slightly new web address. You can now find Brian Dixon's huge archive of Millennium goodness at http://www.fourthhorsemanpress.com/Abyss . Update your bookmarks accordingly! Phew!

Frank Black won't be appearing in X-Files: I want to Believe

A page added recently to our Episode and Credits Guide covers the news updates and developments concerning two of the most popular questions that are on the minds of Millennium fans at the moment: Will Frank Black get a cameo in the second X-Files film and will there be a Millennium movie?

Sadly the first question would seem to have been officially answered by Chris Carter himself, confirming reports already published on the web. On the 18th of April 2008, an article was posted at IGN Entertainment, an excerpt relating to Frank Black and Millennium is below:

On April 17, 2008, writer-director Chris Carter and producer Frank Spotnitz appeared at the New York Comic Con to divulge a few details about the upcoming sequel X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Following a screening of the film's theatrical trailer and brief introduction by IGN's Entertainment Editorial Manager Chris Carle, Carter and Spotnitz fielded questions from fans... The pair indicated that Frank Black, the main character of the show Millennium, would not make an appearance in the film. "I wish I could tell you yes but I have to tell you no," said Carter. "That being said I would love to work with Lance [Henriksen] and I talk to him about it all of the time."

Chris Carter speaks of Millennium movie and drops spoilers on new X-Files movie sequel

An article has appeared at Sci-Fi.com concerning Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz's appearance yesterday at the William S. Paley Television Festival in Hollywood on March 26. Chris and Frank were there to promote the forthcoming X-Files movie sequel which is as yet still untitled. Despite having a release date of July 25th 2008 there are still no official promotional trailers or material and the lack of a movie title cannot help. The writing pair however offered fans a few tantalizing spoilers for the movie including the reason for the delay in naming the sequel's title.

Of particular note to fans of Millennium though, Carter also revealed that he has mulled a movie based on Millennium, which starred Lance Henriksen as criminal profiler and family man Frank Black:

"We've talked about that over the years," he said. "Lance would love to do it. I don't know if it would ever get done. It's a long shot. It would be fun. I have ideas about how to do it."

Lance Henriksen talks Millennium

Someone has posted a video recording from Lance Henriksen's recent Q&A Session from the Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention in Sweden.

Lance mostly answers questions about his role as Bishop from Alien and as usual he's a lot of fun to watch and listen too. However, if you want to skip ahead, go to 15 minutes and 18 seconds into the clip when one female member of the audience gets Lance started on the subject of Millennium, where he also mentions publicly the possibility of a Millennium movie.

Lance Henriksen, best loved by many for his role as Frank Black in Chris Carter's Millennium has again spoken about a proposed Millennium movie.

This time Lance commented about the much desired feature film during his recent attendance at the Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention in Sweden. You may recall our earlier news article from November when Lance sparked much euphoria and speculation with Millennium fans in Manchester, England when he hinted Frank Black was to return.

One of our forum members, 'AxelFoley' spoke to Lance in Sweden and posted as follows:

I just came home from meeting Lance Henriksen on a sci-fi convention held in Sweden. Lance Henriksen is one of (if not the) nicest celebrities i've met in my life. He was so cool & down to earth, just like everyone who's met him has said before. ... he said that the Millennium movie WILL happen, THIS year!

... He said with a clear tone in his voice that the movie will be DARK, very dark. I shot the whole thing with a camera so I'll upload it on youtube for you all to see soon.

Millennium is back on US TV, starting Feb. 4th on Chiller Network

Futon Critic have recently posted a news release from Chiller that Chris Carter's Millennium will be returning to US TV screens on Monday February 4th. Although the show has been available on DVD format for a number of years following a long battle, a whole new generation of US television viewers will now hopefully be introduced to this critically-acclaimed television masterpiece and the daily format will provide another opportunity for an impromptu re-run amongst Millennium DVD owners.

BURBANK, Calif. January 28, 2008 Viewers will spend the 29 days of February on edge as Chiller brings back fan-favorites, themed movie marathons and a spine-tingling Valentine's Day of programming. Audiences will be kept in suspense with fan-favorites "Profit" and "Millennium" - with never-before-seen episodes, a marathon of "Tales From The Darkside" and movies featuring cameo appearances by A-list stars.

"Chiller has a great line-up for February including rarely seen films with some of the best actors of our time," said Dan Harrison, Senior Vice President, Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable. "Bringing Profit and Millennium back to TV is exactly what Chiller fans want and expect."

Is Frank Black to make an official return?

Actor Lance Henriksen (Millennium's tortured Frank Black) has sparked much euphoria and speculation with hopeful Millennium fans during a Q&A session at last weekend's Collectormania in Manchester, England.

Attendee EngineComics explains in a topic on our Millennium forums:

I asked him how he felt about the resolution of his character in Millennium and with news of the X Files 2 film going into production, if there was a chance Frank Black might appear again on screen.

He said he felt shortchanged by the cancellation and that the show could have gone at least another season as they were dealing with "dark, dark stuff" and he would have been interested in seeing that played out.

As for the X Files movie... he said Chris Carter had asked him not to discuss it with fans if asked if Frank was in it... and from the grin on his face as he said "can you guess why?" It looks likely we will finally see Mr Noir on the big screen, even if it is as a supporting character in another film.

This news has also been picked up over at Ain't It Cool News which has resulted in much reminiscing of the Millennium series in their comments section.

The X-Files 2 Starts Shooting December 10

After years of David Duchovny talking about the sequel, and almost 10 years after the first feature, 20th Century is finally ready to start production on The X-Files 2 with the actor in place to reprise his role of Special Agent Fox Mulder. Gillian Anderson is also expected to be back on board to play Special Agent Dana Scully.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on December 10 in Vancouver under the direction of series creator Chris Carter. Carter and Frank Spotnitz wrote the script.

The studio is referring to the film in casting breakdowns as "Done One."

The popular series ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002. Rob Bowman directed the first feature, which hit theaters on June 19, 1998.

The casting directors are Coreen Mayrs and Heike Brandstatter who both worked on X-Files during its filming in Vancouver, and also worked on Millennium, Harsh Realm and The Lone Gunmen.

Lance Henriksen to attend CollectorMania Manchester UK and Propworld Sweden

Actor Lance Henriksen who of course brought us the enigmatic Millennium criminal profiler Frank Black, is set to make 2 convention visits in the near future.

Lance is apparently appearing in the UK at CollectorMania on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November 2007, at Central Hall (formally the G-Mex Centre), Manchester, M2 3GX. For more details visit the official site at www.collectormaniagmex.co.uk/.

Secondly, Anders from Sweden contacted Lance Henriksen Magic (which we took over earlier this year) to advise that Lance would be attending a Swedish Sci-fi convention on November 3-4th, the same one he apparently attended back in May. The website address for the Swedish Convention is www.propworld.nu. We have experienced difficulty in accessing that website, so you may have to check repeatedly for more details.
