Profile

Dan Zukovic was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is an actor, writer and director and is known for his films Scammerhead (2014), The Last Big Thing (1996) and Dark Arc (2004).

Character actor Zukovic was seemingly born to play the bizarre dark comic roles in Millennium for which he is fondly remembered; as Robbinski in Jose Chung's 'Doomsday Defense' and as the stressed out TV network standards and practices executive Waylon in 'Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me'.

Zukovic's The Last Big Thing was his debut indie feature film in which he contributed as writer/director/actor, the film also featuring an important early role by Mark Ruffalo. It also starred Dan Zukovic and Sibel Ergener.

Dark Arc, premiered in 2004, is the second independent feature film by the writer, director and actor Dan Zukovic.

Dark Arc premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2004 and was shown at other festivals including Cinequest, The Calgary International Film Festival, The Edmonton International Film Festival, The Quebec City International Film Festival, The Charlotte Film Festival, The Portobello Film Festival, the Nickel Independent Film and Video Festival and the American Cinematheque Festival of Film Noir.

Called "Absolutely brilliant... truly and completely different... something you've never tasted before" by the Film Threat writer Eric Campo"s, the film was named one of Film Threat's "Indies to look out for in 2006". The leading actress, Sarah Strange, was nominated for "Best Lead Performance - Female in a Feature Length Drama" at the 2005 BC Film Industry Leo Awards for her role in the film.

In August 2010, Dark Arc was released on DVD by Vanguard Cinema.

The Last Big Thing premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 1996 and went on to play at other festivals including the Hamptons International Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Denver Film Festival, Boston Film Festival and the Austin Film Festival. The film received a US theatrical release in 1998 through Stratosphere Entertainment, and was sold to SHOWTIME.

Cited as "the most important and overlooked indie film of the 90's" by Chris Gore in Film Threat, the film was also called "a distinctly original and brilliant work" by Kevin Thomas in the Los Angeles Times and "a satire whose sharpest moments echo the tone of a Nathanial West novel" by Stephen Holden in the New York Times. Ken Eisner in Variety characterized the film as "a consistently funny, relentlessly scabrous critique of fin-de-siecle media culture" and John Hartl in the Seattle Times called it "one of the few truly original low budget comedies of recent years." Justine Elias of the Village Voice went on to say "this furiously original movie could become the Repo Man of the '90s".

Dan Zukovic also wrote, directed and starred in Scammerhead, a 2014 Canadian comedy film (nominated for 14 awards, winning 8) in which a scam-artist attempts to successfully execute his most elaborate scam to date. The film also stars Alex Rocco, Bruce Glover with Zukovic as Silas Breece. Glover is best known for his portrayal of the assassin Mr. Wint in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.

Scammerhead is a film noir with dark comic elements. It was filmed over seven years in numerous international locations, including New York City, Chicago, Vancouver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Berlin, Tokyo, Havana, London, Rome, Paris, Mexico City, Washington DC, New Orleans, Cleveland, Toronto, Liverpool, Memphis, Dallas, Atlanta, Elba Island and Alcatraz Island. It features one of the final performances by the well-known character actor Alex Rocco, as well as including C. Ernst Harth who like Zukovic and Sarah Strange, had also appeared in Millennium.
